D.B. Waterman is actually a pseudonym, my real name is Ans de Bie.  At a certain point a fictitious name seemed to suit me for exploring a certain path I stumbled into; I felt the need for a self-determined alter ego to continue working along this path. As an artist one is quickly type-casted. Working under a different name gives me greater freedom and the opportunity to explore different styles and perspectives. "DB" are the initials of my name, 'Waterman' [Aquarius], because this is my Zodiac sign.

I enjoyed my professional education  at the Art Academy in Den Bosch, and later I also entered some more specific specialist courses at several locations.

D.B. Waterman gave me an opportunity to self explore, but has taken over my life a bit as well. By exposing the works on a few websites, these have  generated their own demand. Meanwhile the works sell well, and have provoced quite some international interest and brought quite some requests for exhibitions abroad.

I work on paper and canvas, with pencil, watercolor, oil and acrylic, quite often mixed. The use of different materials expands every day. Now I am into the use of much ink and stamping techniques, and recently I have discovered photography and digital manipulation. People are my favourite subject and inspiration and I especially love walking down city streets, finding images.
